Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2020, Hooker Furniture will continue its emphasis and expansion of its Mélange collection with 45 new pieces at the Fall High Point Market. The globally inspired, eclectic collection of one-of-a-kind artistic accent pieces has been a top performer for the company, resulting in retail sales of more than $250 million dollars to date.

“Ten years ago we identified a niche in the marketplace for high-style accent pieces with luxurious looks at affordable price points,” said Tim O’Hare, senior vice president of merchandising and design for Hooker Furniture case goods. “The collection, which includes an eclectic assortment of accent pieces inspired by industry-leading consumer fashion, style and design trends – at affordable price points – has proven to resonate with consumers year after year, as it consistently ranks among our top performers, generating more than a quarter of a billion dollars in retail sales.

“Our retail and design trade partners appreciate the quality and distinctive looks the collection provides, along with the variety of styles available that can easily transition from traditional to contemporary settings,” he added. “With an assortment that can provide that ‘finishing touch’ or interject a bold ‘jewelry’ piece into a space, the Mélange collection will certainly continue to be a key focus in the accent furniture category within our product portfolio.”

Blending colors, textures and materials to create a vibrant assortment of versatile and timeless designs, new pieces this Market are inspired by four of today’s popular consumer lifestyle personalities including the Traditionalist, the Collector, the Individualist and the Sophisticate.

Rooted in Hooker Furniture’s core value, the Traditionalist trend takes classic forms and adds an eccentric flare. This Market’s assortment features rustic wood, travertine, decorative silver leaf motifs, nail head accents and onyx details. The statement piece of this group, the Jessamine Door Chest, offers classic appeal and takes on a serene mood with its organic vine motif in silver leaf with glass knob hardware.

Inspired by world travels, the Collector trend combines bold color choices and mixed styles that are pulled from various places across the globe. This trend features an assortment of wood pieces in medium

wood tones on a variety of rustic and distressed veneers including pecan, mango, maple and oak. Additional materials used to achieve this look include travertine, hand-hammered wrought iron and cane.

The Trobe Stool highlights this trend with its Kuba Cloth-inspired fabric, giving it a global feel. It sits atop a wrought iron base with a hand-hammered texture. Another statement item in the Collector lifestyle includes the Lane Credenza. Paying homage to mid-century modern style, its four doors feature geometric texture that adds depth and dimension. Finished in a bright white, the door fronts add a pop of interest against its oak perimeter and ebony metal base.

For the edgy professional consumer, the Individualist trend is a fashion-forward home style that coincides with their stylish wardrobe. With materials including marble, metal accents, terrazzo, bone inlay, jute rope and bold black and white color palettes with touches of gold, this trend is highlighted by the Russell Credenza. In a study of juxtapositions, the piece combines linear and circular forms and a mix of materials including mango wood, bone inlay and metal accents to create a striking contrast that is sure to take center stage in any space.

The Sophisticate lifestyle trend is for the high-end “glam” consumer. Set in black, white and gold-tones with a touch of high sheen lacquers, acrylics, faux horn details and marble accents, the stand-out piece is the Ortino Bar Cabinet. Perched high on a stainless steel base, it exudes glam with its sleek black, high gloss lacquered finish. Bold hardware featuring a large marble accent framed in stainless steel adds drama to the sophisticated look.

The new pieces will be on display in Hooker Furniture’s High Point Market showroom, space C-1058 of the International Home Furnishings Center.
