Tepperman’s Scores High On 2020 Wood Furniture Scorecard

In celebration of their commitment to sustainable product sourcing, Tepperman’s has been recognized by the National Wildlife Federation and the Sustainable Furnishings Council with a high score on their Wood Furniture Scorecard.

“We continuously strive to be a leader of environmental initiatives for our retail furnishings sector and are very pleased to be recognized as a High Score company on our Wood Furniture scorecard.” said Andrew Tepperman, President. “We are committed to guiding our suppliers to be more sustainable and are working towards choosing suppliers and manufacturers that promote positive environmental practices.”

The goal of the Wood Furniture Scorecard is to encourage furniture retailers, big or small, to implement strong policies that drive responsible wood sourcing practices through their complex supply chains. In addition, the Scorecard works to support further progress, build awareness of best practices and recognize leadership. The SFC and NWF are deeply concerned about the loss and degradation of forests around the world, and knowing that the furnishings industry is the #3 user of wood after construction and paper, they have rated and ranked the leading retailers of wood furniture in North America on their wood sourcing policies and practices.

The sustainability page on Teppermans.com has also recently been updated in order to detail all of the environmental sustainability measures that Tepperman’s is undertaking as well as publicly report their waste diversion and greenhouse gas reduction efforts. Some areas that earned Tepperman’s points on their scorecard include:

Including a responsible wood sourcing policy on website
Having a policy that is committed to avoiding sourcing illegal and/or controversial wood
Demonstrating progress in responsible sourcing under the Scorecard framework
Including a sustainability section on website
Visibly offering recycled/reclaimed wood furniture for sale on website ###
